Results published in the 2019 issue of Asphalt Technology News ranked BIORESTOR® as the highest performing rejuvenating fog sealant against six other products in a recent test study.
“We were very excited to see BIORESTOR® come out on top,” states Michael Freisthler, owner of Asphalt Systems Ohio, Inc. and BioBased Spray Systems LLC. “I know this product out performs our competitors in the field, so it’s great to see validation from NCAT’s study. Clearly, everyone needs to apply an asphalt rejuvenator as a proactive treatment for cracks and potholes by preserving the binder’s flexibility. If you can do something for a low cost that extends the life of a very expensive product, you do it.”
Conducted by the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at their Auburn, Alabama test track, seven rejuvenating seal products were evaluated for their material flow properties and friction test results over a four-week period following application.
BIORESTOR® ranked highest against the other six products based on three measurements: highest restoration of material flow properties of the binder, highest decrease in viscosity of the binder, and return of pre-treatment coefficient of friction values three hours following application.
90% biobased and certified under the USDA BioPreferred Program, BIORESTOR® is both environmentally and user friendly. Darke County Ohio Road engineer James Surber can testify to the product’s value. “BIORESTOR® has shown to extend pavement life by 40% for only 13% additional cost. We extend the life of our roadways by applying BIORESTOR® right after the asphalt is placed. There is no doubt that this product has saved Darke County money.” “Many customers re-treat their pavement after five years for even more life,” notes Freishtler.
The value of rejuvenating sprays for asphalt surfaces is evident in its economical cost, ease of application and proven ability to extend the life of asphalt pavement.
